| Salmon and Steelhead The Pere Marquette River and Lake offer some of the finest salmon and trout fishing in the United States. The salmon spawning run begins in August with very fishable numbers of salmon available by September. Some years the spawning run can last well into late October. By early October, spunky, hungry steelhead enter West Michigan drowned river mouths and rivers chasing salmon roe. Coho salmon also ascend the rivers for their spawning run. These pre-spawn steelhead are some of the strongest steelhead of the year. These fish will leap 3 plus feet out of the water, slam lures and make powerful runs. We will put you right on top of these fish with the best methods and presentations for that day and time of the year. Come ice out, large runs of pre-spawn steelhead enter drowned river mouths and rivers and are caught with the same methods as in the fall. Lake run brown trout and early king and coho salmon will enter drowned river mouths and harbors chasing smelt and alewives and can make for a nice bonus catch We use the top of the line rods, reels, lures and bait there is!!!! We will do everything to put you in top and into the fish. Beginners, women and children are always welcomed!!! (CATCH AND RELEASE OF ALL RIVER FISH IS ENCOURAGED TO PROVIDE AND MAINTAIN OUR WONDERFUL FISHERY!) |
| Ducks and Geese We offer you exciting hunts for migratory birds from opening day until late season. We will put you in the best bays, marshes and on islands where the birds want to be! Southeast Michigan has some very underrated hunting opportunities for waterfowl. We start out year in the Detroit River/Lake Erie area chasing puddle ducks. As the season progresses, we see large flights of diving ducks migrating from the north. Diving ducks can make for a fast and furious hunts as these these small, very fast birds, fly at very high rate of speed inches off the water. Pere Marquette Lake and Hamlin Lake offer a very versitale hunting opportunity. With large populations of resident Canadian Geese, shallow marshes and big water, the variety of different waterfowl species is available for the taking! As the migration continues, rafts of diving ducks seek PM Lake and Hamlin Lake as refugee from the high winds and big seas of Lake Michigan and can make for a very memorable hunt. |
